*Don’t forget our Timber Frame Raising Party* is tomorrow, Saturday, June 11. We’ll be at the property all day, from 9-4, with refreshments, a BBQ, tours of the timber frame and the main house. Hope to see you there. – Jared*
Day three of raising the Woodhouse timber frame on the Day House Property at 15th Street and the East 3rd Avenue Historic District in Durango.
The “before and after” shots of the custom timber frame are below, corresponding with the morning and the end of the day. I haven’t spoken much on this blog of the site location. It is an ideal spot for in-town living. Durango has a vibrant downtown, linked to further reaches of the town by the Animas bike path. The Day House property is walking distance to all the best restaurants and shops downtown and is steps away from the bike path that travels seven miles along the Animas River.
Fortunately, the people who founded Durango over a century ago had the foresight to plant lots of trees. The tree-lined avenues add to the appeal and the much-needed shade, but don’t do much for the vistas. The Day House property is unique in that it is right downtown, yet is on the riverfront and has spectacular views in nearly every direction.
I hope everyone has a chance to stop by our party tomorrow and check out the timber frame and the entire property. Most of us locals were previously only familiar with the site from the vantage at the junction of East 3rd and Florida Road, giving it a skewed image. The property is quite large and gorgeous. In fact, Mark will be selling the western portion of the riverfront side of the property later this year. Check it out here.
See you tomorrow for the full tour. Until then….
I also finished a few projects on the main house yesterday. Here’s an image of ceiling of the master bedroom in the main house. (Check out the blog post on that project here.)
Thanks for reading!
